About

WE’RE ON A MISSION TO HELP!

Buddies Place Cat Rescue (BPCR) was founded in 2009 by our President, Virginia Hill, to serve the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. We are a small 501(c)3 non-profit organization run by caring volunteers whose goal it is to help raise awareness and educate our Community, so that ALL animals may live in a world without hunger, homelessness, fear, or pain.

BPCR rescues cats & kittens who are facing euthanasia, or those that are homeless, abandoned, neglected, unwanted, or injured. All cats & kittens that enter the BPCR program are provided with immediate medical care, tested for Feline Leukemia and FIV, spayed/neutered, vaccinated for rabies, and given safe shelter until they can be placed in a forever home or sanctuary.

BPCR also participates in making the Community aware of the need for trap, spay/neuter, release programs (TNR) and to educate in order to help reduce and control the feral cat population in Parker and Tarrant Counties. All cats we trap are tested and spayed/neutered BEFORE being release back into their colony or an alternative placement is found for them.

Buddies Place Cat Rescue wishes to thank all of the veterinarians and staff of VCA Mercedes Place Animal Hospital, for all the long hours, care, concern and understanding they give to our rescues and to us. They are a fine group of people, who have assisted us for many years. A special thank you to Dr. Robert Bearden. You are the best.

TNR

What is Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR)?

Trap-Neuter-Return is the humane and effective approach for stray and feral cats. Now in practice for decades in the US after being proven in Europe, scientific studies show that Trap-Neuter-Return improves the lives of feral cats, improves their relationships with the people who live near them, and decreases the size of colonies over time.

Trap-Neuter-Return is successfully practiced in hundreds of communities and in every landscape and setting. It is exactly what it sounds like: Cats are humanely trapped and taken to a veterinarian to be neutered and vaccinated. After recovery, the cats are returned to their home—their colony—outdoors. Kittens and cats who are friendly and socialized to people may be adopted into homes.

Grounded in science, TNR stops the breeding cycle of cats and therefore improves their lives while preventing reproduction. It is a fact that the removal and killing of outdoor cats that animal control has been pursuing for decades is never ending and futile. Since feral cats are not adoptable, they are killed in pounds and shelters. With a successful program like Trap-Neuter-Return to turn to, it’s hard to believe that animal control agencies continue to kill cats, even though that approach has shown zero results.

It is time to put an end to catch and kill. Trap-Neuter-Return provides a life-saving, effective solution for these beautiful, independent cats.

We do not offer boarding services and are not be able to foster personal cats that are not being placed for adoption.

We are not a feline leukemia (FelV) sanctuary. Space permitting, we do accept cats with FIV but we do not have the resources to care for cats with feline leukemia.

Unfortunately, Buddies Place does not have the resources to take on any more kittens right now.
